YESENIA CASTILLO
COCONUT PALM K-8 CENTER
STUDENT RECOGNITION STORY
Ms. Castillo has changed my life in ways I will always be grateful for. When I first walked into her classroom, I didn’t know much English. I felt nervous, quiet, and unsure of myself. But from the very beginning, Ms. Castillo made me feel like I belonged.
What makes this teacher awesome is not just the way she teaches, but the way she believes in her students. Her patience and kindness make the classroom feel safe and welcoming.
There are so many things she does to make me excited to go to class. She turns lessons into fun activities, group conversations, and games that help us practice speaking without fear. She tells stories, plays interactive learning games, and sometimes even makes us laugh with her jokes. Every day feels different and interesting, and that made me want to participate more.
Ms. Castillo shows that she cares about us in small but powerful ways. She asks how we are doing. She notices when someone is having a bad day. She stays after class to help if we don’t understand something. She celebrates our progress, even the small improvements, and reminds us how far we’ve come.
Because of her, I became a better and more confident student. She encouraged me to speak up even when I was scared. She corrected me gently and taught me new words every day. Step by step, I started understanding more, speaking more, and believing in myself. Thanks to Ms. Castillo, I learned the English language, something that once felt impossible to me.
Inside the classroom, she supported me by giving me extra practice and feedback. Outside the classroom, she motivated me to keep trying and never give up. She didn’t just teach me English — she taught me confidence.
I will always be thankful to Ms. Castillo. She didn’t just teach a subject; she helped shape my future.
