Life-Changing Teaching Award Nominee
TIFFANY LACROIX
MCDONOGH #35 SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL
STUDENT RECOGNITION STORY
Listen, if you haven’t had Ms. LaCroix for English 2 yet, you’re missing out. She’s easily the most awesome teacher in this building because she actually treats us like adults whose opinions matter. She doesn’t just drone on about symbolism; she makes the stories feel like they’re happening now.
The best part? I actually get excited to walk into her room. You never know what’s going to be on the board, one day it’s a weird 1920s playlist for Gatsby, and the next we’re having a full-blown Socratic seminar that feels more like a heated podcast debate than a lesson. She makes the hour fly by.
You can tell she truly cares because she notices the small stuff. If you’re having a rough morning, she doesn't call you out in front of everyone; she’ll just catch you at the door and ask if you’re okay. She remembers your favorite books, your hobbies, and even that one random thing you mentioned three weeks ago.
She’s made me so much more confident as a writer, too. Instead of just bleeding red ink all over my essays, she sits down with me and shows me how to make my 'voice' stronger. She makes you feel like your ideas are actually brilliant, which makes you want to work harder for her.
Plus, her support goes way beyond the classroom. I’ve seen her at the Friday night football games and the drama club plays, cheering louder than anyone. She’s the first person to offer to write a recommendation or help you figure out a problem with another class. Honestly, Ms. LaCroix is just that 'one' teacher you’ll never forget.
