Mr. Cortez demonstrates an exceptional level of dedication to the chess team, consistently investing his time and energy well beyond the school day. He stays after school for practices and gives up his weekends to support students at tournaments, ensuring they are prepared, encouraged, and confident. More importantly, Mr. Cortez fosters a genuine love of chess among his students. He creates an environment that emphasizes learning, critical thinking, and perseverance, helping students grow not only as players but also as thinkers.
