STUDENT RECOGNITION STORY

Coach T is an amazing coach for plenty of reasons, but my favorite thing he does that makes him a great teacher/coach is his advice. I've played almost all sports, and one thing about me is I hate advice; it's weird because I am very coachable, but I hate receiving advice. Every time a coach gives advice, I am like, "here comes another useless message," but when Coach T is talking, I immediately lock in and listen because it is useful stuff. I like how he teaches us stuff that applies on and off the court. One of my favorite things he told me during a basketball game, which I won't forget the message, but maybe I might have messed up on the words, and additionally I forgot if he was talking to me or a teamate but regardless the advice was good. He said, "Focus on the game now and know what you can do better when you get back out there". It was something like that, but what I do know and remember is that being the Travis game, in which I almost got fouled out that game, and right when I got back in, I scored. Just an additional piece of advice was when he told the girls to stop worrying about the crowd, which really stuck with me during basketball season and helped me grow because last year I was so caught up in paying attention to who's watching, listening to my dad's advice, and listening to angry parents. I never got time to focus on myself and how I was playing, neverthelesss after that advice, I only listened to my coach, and I could feel my growth. I only paid attention to the game, which connects to the other advice. To sum this big paragraph up coach t is and amazing coach and Im very gratefull for him and his advice thathelps me grow.
