Congratulations to
Life-Changing Teaching Award Nominee
TANYA ORLOPP
NORTH CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL

STUDENT RECOGNITION STORY

I couldn’t fill out one for Mrs Mocek without nominating Ms Tanya as well. No matter what she has going on in her life, she makes it a priority to check on not only me but every student she has. She can read me better than I can read myself. If I step foot in that classroom after a bad day at school she knows to give me a hug and obviously crack a joke. Seeing her and Mrs Mocek interact with each other is something I strive for when I grow up and get a job. The love and care they have for each other and everyone else they know is something that will always stick with me. Last year, Ms Tanya and I went to gym for my cadet teaching class everyday. I’ve never seen someone so into a dodgeball game ever but in reality she was making sure the paces kids got treated with equal opportunity. She’s pushed me so hard to be the best leader I can be in Best Buddies while also reminding me that mistakes will be made and it’s okay to do. Ms Tanya was the second call I made after being pulled over and the first was my mom. Ms Tanya instantly calmed my fast breath and many tears down. Thinking about leaving high school has been the most exciting thing for me but the most gut wrenching is how I will have to leave Ms Tanya and Mrs Mocek. They’ve made the biggest impact on my high school years and I am forever grateful for them both. I love Ms Tanya so much!
