In our humble opinion, Shelby Ayson is the Lamborghini of teachers. And, lucky us, both of our children have had the pleasure of being in her class — our son in first grade and now our daughter in kindergarten. From the day we first met Shelby at Open House, we could tell our son was in for a great year. The feel room had that perfect mixture of warmth, comfort, and fun. And after speaking with Shelby, we could see why… She truly cares about each and every child inside her classroom. And you can see this in the million little things she does year around that go above and beyond what is expected: the weekly Ayson Newsletter, Ayson Airways (where the children get to explore cultures the world over, even taking off in class with light and sound effects!), as well as some very festive activities around the holidays. Mrs. Ayson also brought our son out of his shell and made him truly enjoy going to school. She is still his favorite teacher to this day. Our daughter is currently with Mrs. Ayson and, like her brother, is genuinely excited to go to class every day. I think the ability to get children excited about learning is the highest art a teacher can achieve. It should be noted, this has not been an easy year for Shelby. Her best friend and fellow teacher passed away on the first day of school. It was a tragedy that rocked all of us to our core, but Mrs. Ayson, while mourning her dear friend, not only kept the class on top shape, but lended a constant, loving hand to her fellow teacher’s family. Hopefully all these examples help paint the portrait of a truly exceptional educator and our favorite teacher, Mrs. Shelby Ayson.
