STUDENT RECOGNITION STORY

Ms. Livingston is an amazing teacher because she changed my mindset about a class I didn’t even want to be in at first. As a senior who had already taken the ACT, I originally planned to switch out, especially since most of the class was juniors. But after being in her class, I chose to stay, and I’m really glad I did. What makes her awesome is how she makes ACT prep engaging and enjoyable, even though it can be a stressful subject. She brings energy into the classroom, and I especially love how she dresses up for holidays and different occasions, it makes the class feel more fun and welcoming. At the beginning, I struggled a lot. Balancing both the workbook and online assignments was difficult for me, especially since I was used to focusing only on major tasks. The online work, in particular, was challenging and sometimes discouraged me. But Ms. Livingston didn’t let that stop me, she helped me keep going and improve. One moment that stands out is how much my understanding of the ACT changed while being in her class. When I first took the test, I got a 17. After working with her, I improved to an 18. While that may not seem like a huge jump, it showed real progress for me, especially in my pacing and understanding of the test. She also supported us through unexpected challenges. When Inspire announced that the ACT we were taking would include the Science section again, she didn’t have much time to prepare us for it. Even so, she still did her best to help us, which showed how dedicated she is to her students. Ms. Livingston helped me become more confident by improving my test-taking skills and encouraging me to keep trying, even when things felt frustrating. She created an environment where it was okay to struggle and grow. Because of her, I not only improved my ACT skills but also learned to push through challenges and not give up. I’m really grateful I stayed in her class, and she made a bigger impact on me than I expected.
