Mr. Shawn Brentham is an awesome teacher because, even though I don’t have him in class, the passion and effort he puts into theater arts is truly inspiring. Watching him do what he loves has made me admire him and has even sparked a love for performing in me. Even though I may not have outstanding acting skills, I’ve found so much joy in being part of something bigger and connecting with other students who share the same passion for bringing stories to life. We get to turn imagination into reality, and none of that would be possible without him. He truly puts the “art” into theater arts. He creates such a safe, welcoming, and comfortable environment that makes me excited to attend rehearsals after school. No matter the budget, he always finds a way to make everything come together, showing his dedication and creativity. From the moment we walk into the theater room, we feel cared for and accepted, knowing we can be our authentic selves without judgment. Mr. Brentham helps us grow not only as performers but as confident individuals. He encourages us to move beyond overthinking on stage and instead, fully connecting with our roles, which makes each performance feel natural and real. He sees the potential in every student and works hard to build our confidence, reminding us that mistakes are part of the process. Above all, he supports us both inside and outside of theater. He treats us with kindness and respect. He creates an environment where we can have fun, learn, and grow. Whether we succeed or make mistakes, he is always there to guide us and remind us why we love what we do.
