Congratulations to
Life-Changing Teaching Award Nominee
SARITA PIERRE-LOUIS
LAKE WORTH HIGH SCHOOL
STUDENT RECOGNITION STORY
She was my 3rd period teacher, and she is also my counselor and my trusted adult. She is patient, kind, and explains things very clearly. She always motivates me to do better. She is funny and cool, not only with me but with all the students. Even when she is upset, you can’t really see it because her facial expression doesn’t change much. She stays calm and professional, and I really admire that about her.
Whenever I go to her class, I know something positive will happen. She sometimes starts class with a game called “Tell Me Something Good,” which makes everyone feel comfortable and happy. She does many fun and engaging activities that make learning more interesting. Sometimes she even brings snacks and candy, which makes the classroom feel welcoming.
It is very clear that she cares about me, especially because she is also my counselor. She calls me when there are scholarships available so I don’t miss opportunities. If something happens between me and another teacher, she talks to me about it and asks me what really happened. She doesn’t just say that she cares she shows it through her actions.
There was a time when a misunderstanding happened with another teacher, but instead of judging me, she talked to me, listened to my side, and made it clear that she knew I was not the kind of student who would do something like that. That showed me that I have someone who truly knows me and believes in me, and that meant so much to me.
She is very supportive, and she makes me feel comfortable and heard. She’s like my big sister because something she once told me reminded me of something my own big sister had said before. That moment made me feel understood.
You are a great counselor and a great teacher. I am truly grateful for everything you do for me and for all your students.
