SANDRA WHITE
PAYNE STEAM ACADEMY (P-8)
STUDENT RECOGNITION STORY
Even though I was entering a new school, it felt like I had someone familiar that would greet me with open arms. Mrs. White was my older brother's eight grade teacher too.
Mrs. White not only prepares us for important tests, but she sets up her teaching to provide us with college level understanding. Hardworking students are recognized by giving shout outs. This not only gives me confidence, but it sets an example for all students to follow. My brother appreciated that Mrs. White kept the class engaged by providing interactive meaningful lessons that helped him excel in class. She granted him frequent breaks after assignments were completed and this made class more enjoyable.
Sometimes when a student is acting off or misbehaving, she checks in with them to allow them to open up. Mrs. White acts like a therapist by creating a nonjudgmental environment for us to talk one on one.
Mrs. White empowers me by not only showcasing my effort and performance on my assignments, she makes me feel like I am on a path that will allow me to have a good future.
Mrs. White makes sure that I don't feel embarrassed whenever I ask questions. Instead, she makes me feel that asking for help is a good thing and that I'm not bothering her. Mrs. White never made my brother nor me feel like we were asking dumb questions. She wasn't demeaning an any way. Outside the classroom, she helped me to complete and proofread a speech for a district competition and edit a writing piece for an application for a Saturday Program.
Mrs. White and our parents have a good relationship. We both feel that Mrs. White respects her students and she is an excellent teacher. We love Mrs. White!
