Congratulations to
Life-Changing Teaching Award Nominee
ROBERT LAAS
FOOTHILL HIGH SCHOOL
STUDENT RECOGNITION STORY
I had Mr. Laas last year for a Dual Enrollment Sociology course. Mr. Laas made me look forward to this class everyday because of his positive attitude and friendly demeanor every day without fail. I have never heard anything negative about him because not only does he provide a positive environment, he makes students interested in the topic, ensuring the amount of work load and assignments are reasonable. If you do not understand a topic or assignment, Mr. Laas takes the time out of his grading period or free time to sit down personally with you to explain it throughly until you understand it. Without having the Sociology teacher that I did, I would have never found my passion for the course, leading me to my decision to follow through into college. After a year of not being in Mr. Laas's class, I will continue to stop by his classroom for a pick me up or just to ask how he has been. His level of care for students is beyond any other I have seen before, even though I am no longer his student, he still is someone anyone can turn for help or advice, making him one of my most trusted staff on campus by far. This teachers drive and passion for educating our future generation should be more than respected but rewarded, teachers like Mr. Laas help with the stress high school students come to school with everyday, which is something that should never be swept under the rug.
