Having come from another school district, I was not a little intimidated to attend North Central High School. Initially, while trying out for North Central Bands, Mr. Granlund helped me feel comfortable in his music department. He challenged me to be a part of NCHS's highest Wind Ensemble. This was certainly a challenge given my relatively smaller experience in school ensembles. He pushed me to excel, work with a private bassoon teacher and ultimately feel at home in the Wind Ensemble. This experience pushed me toward a higher ground in my music journey but also a set of friendship and community within the school. He is a brilliant band director, warm mentor and personal teacher. He is the best that Washington Township has to offer.
