WILLIAM SNYDER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

STUDENT RECOGNITION STORY

As an 11th highschooler safe to say I’ve had may teachers however one stuck out to me the most and that would be Ms Vinograd! Ms Vinograd is truly the embodiment of an excellent teacher because she was really positive and outgoing making sure everyone including the adults felt welcomed stepping into her classroom and there wasn’t a single day that I could remember where I felt otherwise. Something I looked forward to coming to Ms Vinograd’s class were the activities she would do. I remember she turned her entire classroom Mario themed and had four stations each different subjects from what we learned. It was very interactive and as a small child who thought school was very boring this made me actually want to learn since Ms Vinograd made it very fun and engaging. Ms Vinograd was a caring teacher and going back to what I said about her making us feel included was she would pull a stick with our name on it from a cup and once our name was pulled she would offer that student to eat lunch with her and chat about whatever one on one! I remember getting the opportunity to chat with her and as a small child it made me feel really happy being recognized by a teacher I looked up to. What Ms Vinograd did to make me a more confident student was she had this point system where if we got a question right she would give us a point as a class to get reward. I remember specifically I thought I recognized a vocabulary word and raised my hand to point it out. Unfortunately I was misunderstood however she still gave me a point nonetheless because she knew how much it took of me to speak out since I was a very shy student back then and even though I was embarrassed I was reassured by Ms Vinograd that risks are worth trying. Ms Vinograd was supportive inside and outside the classroom. I remember Ms Vinograd knowing I loved to draw so she offered me the task of drawing a poster for the class which I happily accepted. As for outside the classroom outside the class I remember she would send a message to our parents saying how good of a student we were which not only made our parents happy but also made the students feel seen and proud of ourselves. As a highschooler about to graduate in a year I still remember those sweet moments in Ms Vinograd’s classroom and I still can’t believe how above and beyond she went for our learning experience. I truly believe she is one of the teachers who I won’t forget any time soon.
