Congratulations to
Life-Changing Teaching Award Nominee
PAUL GONGORA
ALEX SANGER PREPARATORY SCHOOL

STUDENT RECOGNITION STORY

Mr Góngora has to be one of my favorite teachers at Sanger. When my oldest was in 7th grade he had Mr Gongora for Reading. Teaching middle school kids is hard enough, but when you add in a world wide pandemic that turns school into a zoom class it has to be tough, but Mr G rose to the occasion and made class fun to be in. I remember one day he gave them an assignment to finish while on zoom together. They were to read a passage and follow the directions, as my son was reading it he realized that it was a recipe to make drop biscuits. Not only did he have his whole class fully engaged and making breakfast, but then other classes started asking at join the zoom. He took the concepts of what he wanted his class to learn that day and made a fun cooking class. That is something the kids and parents will not forget. Now that Hunt has him in class for reading and his design class, he is finding out how much fun of a teacher Mr G is. He pushes his students to think outside the box and use their critical thinking skills. I hope that he is there for my youngest to be able to have him too.
