Congratulations to
Life-Changing Teaching Award Nominee
NATHANIEL EWING
NIMITZ HIGH SCHOOL

STUDENT RECOGNITION STORY

To start off, every time you see Mr. Ewing, he always has a smile on his face and is always willing to help anyone either inside the band hall or outside of it. He has helped shape so many people, and he has definitely helped me throughout my journey in high school. He’s always been a teacher I can talk to, especially when I’m going through problems. What makes him awesome is that he truly cares , not just about how we perform, but about who we are as people. He doesn’t just teach music; he teaches life lessons. He pushes us to work hard, stay disciplined, and believe in ourselves even when we don’t think we’re good enough. He makes class exciting because you can feel his passion for what he does. Whether we’re preparing for a performance, working through a tough piece, or just having one of those chaotic band days, he makes it fun and meaningful. He celebrates our progress, big or small, and that makes you want to keep improving. He shows he cares by checking in on us. He notices when someone is off, and he doesn’t ignore it. He takes the time to listen, to give advice, and to remind us that we matter beyond our grades or performances. That means more than he probably realizes. He has made me a more confident student by believing in me when I doubted myself. He encourages leadership, responsibility, and growth. Because of him, I’ve learned to step out of my comfort zone and trust my abilities more. Inside the classroom, he supports us by giving guidance, patience, and encouragement. Outside the classroom, he supports us by being someone we can rely on. someone who listens and genuinely wants the best for us. Mr. Ewing isn’t just a great teacher; he’s someone who has made a lasting impact on my high school experience, and I’m truly grateful for that.
