Congratulations to
Life-Changing Teaching Award Nominee
NAOMI HERRERA
NEIL C TWITCHELL ELEMENTARY
STUDENT RECOGNITION STORY
I would like to nominate Ms. Herrera, a 2nd grade teacher at Neil C. Twitchell Elementary School, for Teacher of the Year. Ms. Herrera is an exceptional educator who creates a supportive, structured, and positive learning environment where her students are encouraged to succeed both academically and personally.
Ms. Herrera is incredibly kind and supportive, always ensuring that her students are progressing and reaching their full academic potential. She holds her students to high standards while also being patient and understanding. When behavior needs to be corrected, she does so calmly and respectfully, redirecting students in a positive way that helps them learn and grow rather than feel discouraged.
My family has been fortunate enough to have Ms. Herrera teach both of my children, and we were especially lucky that my son had her as his teacher for two years. My son has ADHD, and Ms. Herrera showed incredible patience, understanding, and dedication in helping him succeed. She supported him not only in the classroom but also by helping guide us through the process of getting him the support he needed, including assisting in getting him on a 504 plan. Her encouragement and commitment made a meaningful difference in his confidence and growth as a student.
Teachers like Ms. Herrera truly change lives. Her dedication to her students, her compassion, and her ability to help every child succeed make her incredibly deserving of the Teacher of the Year recognition.
