Since I was young I’ve always been known to be better at reading and writing, math was something I couldn’t understand, or comprehend. That was until I had Ms. Nguyen’s Algebra 1 class. Ms.Nguyen is the only teacher I’ve ever had that has made me feel comfortable and confident in asking questions. Not only does she bring a safe environment in her classroom but she also creates bonds with the students as well. Ms.Nguyen would make her class exciting by having us all engage with each other and make jokes that would make us all feel comfortable and like a family. Ms.Nguyen would show me she cared by always asking how we were and initiating conversations with us. It was obvious that teaching meant more to Ms. Nguyen than just to teach a subject, she gave us advice, and always found a way to make us laugh even when we were going through rough times. Ms.Nguyen always believed in all of her students, she knew what we were capable of and never saw us as anything less. She helped us believe in ourselves and persevere in being better as an overall person. Ms.Nguyen always gave us words of encouragement and supported us all to find a way we learn better. I will always be tremendously grateful for having had Ms.Nguyen as my teacher, she would brighten up my days without her even realizing it, and although I never told Ms. Nguyen I can say she helped me continue moving forward after going through moments I dreaded going back to school, but she would always welcome me in her class with a big smile and this is why I believe Ms. Nguyen is highly deserving of this and more.
