STUDENT RECOGNITION STORY

What makes Ms. Nguyen an awesome teacher is a mix of a lot of things. She’s an amazing teacher who will actually explain and help you learn the topic and not just go over it. She was also a really cool teacher, she basically was another friend in the classroom but still taught us. She would interact with us and actually seemed interested in every one of her students. She always cared for us and made sure we were okay. I felt comfortable talking to her about more things than I felt with any other teacher because she actually tried to get to know us and actually talk to us. I’m in my sophomore year of high school and Ms. Nguyen is still one of, if not the best teacher I’ve had. Something Ms. Nguyen did to make me excited to go to her class was be the teacher. Even though the subject she taught was interesting, I feel like she made me even more excited to go to her class because of the way she taught. She would take it seriously but she wouldn’t be serious, every single class we had almost like a routine but we would still joke around and what not but we’d also do the work and sometimes even have a few minutes until her class ended. She’d make sure we learned the content, she didn’t make us feel ashamed or scared to ask for help because we knew she would help us learn it. She let us know she cared about us by actually being interested in us. She’d ask about things we did or how things were going. She’d also know if something was wrong just by some slight difference in our mood or behavior and she’d try her best to help us. She would also make sure to include us in certain things or she’d also be included if the students were doing something because Ms. Nguyen was fun to be around. Ms. Nguyen made me a better and confident student by helping me overcome some things. I used to be a shy student and didn’t like talking for like presentations or things like that, but I feel like her class made me more open and didn’t make me feel as nervous or scared to go up and talk. She made me a better student by helping me speak up and not be scared to do things like that. My 8th grade, she got my class into a competition called The Stock Market Game that was with the Capitol Hill Challenge, but basically within our class there was team of three to four student. She’d helped us all by as much as she could within the challenges guide lines. Only the top ten in the whole country out of thousands that participate were able to go to Washington D.C. In Ms. Nguyens class two teams made the top ten, but unfortunately the other team wasn’t able to go and got disqualified because they didn’t meet certain requirements, so my team made 2nd place and were able to go. Ms. Nguyen has supported me in class and out of class by offering help with classes even till this day she’s offered to help with my math classes if I don’t understand certain topics and she’s supported out of classes by giving her students opportunities to gain community service hours
