Congratulations to
Life-Changing Teaching Award Nominee
MELISSA BAUTISTA
WUNSCHE HIGH SCHOOL
STUDENT RECOGNITION STORY
Mrs. Bautista is awesome because she never raises her voice and treats her students as equals. She always makes sure everyone understands and provides the proper structure to actually learn Spanish, not just memorize it for a test. Some things Mrs. Bautista does to make her class better is she always asks us how our day is and if we have any good news before we start the lesson. Also, her lessons are always engaging, and we actually practice speaking activities for pronunciation. Something Mrs. Bautista does to let me know she cares about the rest of her students and me is that she makes sure that it's a judgment-free zone, and nobody gets judged for their mistakes, unless it's just a joke between friends. This helps us be better and more confident because it shows us that learning another language isn't just about reading and understanding grammer. It's learned through trial and error, and mistakes are needed to learn. Mrs. Bautista also supports us outside of the classroom by always being understanding about grades and being transparent about them. She never threatens us with failing and usually personally talks to anybody with missing work to make sure that they were there that day and know how to do it.
