This is to nominate Mrs. Chelsea Knowling. She is not on the teacher's list to choose from, but she works closely with Maggie King. She is the counselor over the Special Education Department at Elan. She has helped my daughter, Kirsten, "muscle through" a lot of difficult times at school and she continues to help her. She believes in holistic learning (feeding the mind, body, and spirit) and inclusion so that no child is left behind. She truly understands that students come from all different backgrounds, have different strengths and weaknesses, and cannot fit all in one box. In her path, she brings awareness to Elan's community about neurodivergence and children with disabilities by sponsoring meeting groups and activities for families encountering these issues. She always sponsors a food drive and a toy drive during the holidays for students that would really benefit from these services. She is totally invested that my child has the best outcome at Elan and in future endeavors. She offers sound advice to me as a parent and presents resolutions to solve certain problems. She is always offering a helping hand to students, parents, and staff. She even offered to check -in with my daughter ant the end of the day despite her busy schedule to ensure that she decompresses and can vent before she leaves campus in the evenings.
