Ms. Herrera was my 7th and 8th grade social studies teacher, and she is one of the most impactful teachers I have ever had. I first met her in 6th grade, and I remember noticing the El Salvador flag in her classroom and asking her if she was from there. When she said yes, it meant so much to me. At that age, she was the first teacher I had ever met who was from the same place as me, which is very rare, especially where I live. From that moment on, I hoped and hoped that I would have her as my teacher in 7th and 8th grade. When I finally did, I was beyond happy. From the very beginning, I felt comfortable in her class. Ms. Herrera is awesome because she is kind, understanding, funny, and genuinely cares about her students. She made me feel seen and supported, not just as a student, but as a person. She made me excited to go to class because of the way she taught. Social studies became one of my favorite subjects because she made Texas history and U.S. history fun, engaging, and interesting. Her teaching style made learning exciting, and you could tell she truly loved what she did. Ms. Herrera always showed me that she cared. Whenever I needed to vent, talk, or ask for help, she was always there for me. She helped me not only with her class, but also with other classes and anything else I needed. She always tried her best to support me in every way she could. She helped me become a more confident student and person by constantly reassuring me and giving me advice. She believed in me, encouraged me, and reminded me of my worth. Her words and guidance made a big difference in how I see myself. Inside the classroom, she supported me by being an amazing teacher who truly wanted her students to succeed. Outside the classroom, she supported me by giving real-life and real-world advice that I will carry with me forever. She is more than just a teacher to me — she is like my school mom. She is fun, friendly, and full of love, and I will always be grateful for her. Ms. Herrera is truly one of the best teachers ever, and she has changed my life.
