Congratulations to
Life-Changing Teaching Award Nominee
LINDSEY WASHINGTON
ELDORADO HIGH SCHOOL

STUDENT RECOGNITION STORY

Before I even get into how amazing of a person Ms. Washington is, I just want to point out that she's never even been my teacher, and even still, she's made more of an impact in my life than over half the teachers at my school. Let me take you to December of 2023. It was just a few days before winter break and I was in P.E.. I had forgotten my folder in the locker room at the beginning of class. Now I'll admit, I may have been lollygagging a bit--all the girls were. But for me to be a straight A student and having got scolded by my actual P.E. teacher for lack of preparation, I have to say I felt a little disrespected but more so embarrassed. This caused me to begin having an anxiety attack, but it didn't get nearly as bad as how I felt when I accidently bumped into another student and got hot chocolate on my white hoodie. I began crying in front of my teacher, my class, and of course, Ms. Washington. But instead of just sitting there confused like everyone else, she helped me out. She gave me a little pen that helped with removing stains and calmed me down as the rest of my class went to the track. I doubt she even remembers this moment with all her students, but I certainly did, and I will be forever blessed to have had her there that day. Since then, I can't help but bear a smile whenever I see her. Ms. Washington's energy truly brightens up a room and me along with other students are so grateful to have her here. Thank you, Ms. Washington, for everything.
