Congratulations to
Life-Changing Teaching Award Nominee
LAVONNE CARPENTER
NIMITZ HIGH SCHOOL

STUDENT RECOGNITION STORY

As I had entered high-school I wanted to be part of the Vet program, I sadly wasn’t able to enter so I had to go to my second choice and go to the teaching program. I really didn’t want to enter to it and I wanted to go to vet badly. But as soon as I stepped into Mrs Carpenters room it filled me up with passion of being a teacher, seeing how her classroom is decorated, how she teaches, how she treats students with respect and with love just as if we are one of her kids. I have been in the program for 3 years and those 3 years have been the best experience, I get to visually and physically see how to be a teacher and I enjoy going to that class because the way her classroom is, the environment , and just how she is. I always get so excited to go into her classroom because everyday we use do different projects and they are so entertaining and hands on. Mrs carpenter has helped me out in many different ways. For example she had told me about TAFE and I did not want to join because it was a lot of work, but soon she convinced me and she helped me out and now I am a state qualifier. She helped me get out of my comfort zone. And I am thankful she made me do TAFE because now I have something more to add to my resume. I would recommend any upcoming freshman coming into Nimitz to do the teaching CTE program, because you will enjoy it. I can’t wait to have her for one more year next year.
