Congratulations to
Life-Changing Teaching Award Nominee
LAKEISHA TAYLOR
SPRING HIGH SCHOOL

STUDENT RECOGNITION STORY

Ms. Taylor has been my teacher since I was a freshman in the Education Pathway. From the very beginning, she has always been there for me. I’ll never forget when I was trying out for the basketball team—she was just as excited as I was. I remember that day so vividly because we were on a trip to Lone Star College, and all I could think about was getting back to see if I made the team. She kept telling me not to worry and to stay calm. As soon as I found out, she was the first person I told. Recently, she told me that I was annoying my freshman year, and honestly, I thought that was hilarious. It just shows how far we’ve come. These past four years have been nothing but great. We’ve built such a strong and genuine relationship—it honestly feels unreal sometimes. We talk about everything: life, college, and basketball. At one point, I left her pathway because I didn’t want to take a dual credit class. But when I came back, I realized exactly why she had been pushing me in the first place. She always saw something in me, even when I didn’t fully see it myself. My senior year has been really special, and I’ve taken every opportunity to go somewhere or be involved with Ms. Taylor. Each time, we’ve made lasting memories. I’m part of the Education Pathway, TAFE, and Student Council, and I graduate this year. Aside from sponsoring all of those organizations, she is also the senior sponsor, so she’s been there for so many of my senior year experiences. It’s meant a lot to have her present during such an important time in my life. She is truly an amazing teacher and person, and I will miss her more than words can express.
