Ms. Knott is awesome for many reasons. Claire started at Lummis in 4th grade so she was very nervous about starting a new school. She loved Ms. Knott from the very beginning. She made Claire feel comfortable and valued. Whenever Claire had difficulty with friends or other kids in the class Ms. Knott listened with real interest and provided valuable feedback to help Claire and the other students. Claire also is a perfectionist and had developed some anxiety around grades and tests. Ms. Knott was very helpful in helping Claire to relax and enjoy school without feeling so much pressure about performance. It was clear that Ms. Knott saw the kids as individuals and helped encourage and meet the students where they were at to help them move forward. Even though Claire has moved on to 5th grade this year Ms. Knott still takes the time to regularly ask Claire how she is doing and lets her talk and share while showing genuine interest. We love Ms. Knott and I am grateful she was Claire's first teacher here at Lummis!
