Congratulations to
Life-Changing Teaching Award Nominee
KIPP CHOPIN
MCDONOGH #35 SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL
STUDENT RECOGNITION STORY
He wasn’t just my U.S. History teacher; he was also my color guard coach, and honestly, he felt like a dad or grandpa figure to me. He’s funny, he can teach his butt off, and he always knew how to give the kind of advice that sticks with you. He made learning feel real and personal. Every day felt different in his class. His teaching style made you want to show up. I loved that we got to work in small groups so everyone understood the lesson, and whenever he used slideshows, he didn’t just read them; he broke everything down, added emphasis, and made sure we actually got it. His energy made class something to look forward to. He always checked in on us. He’d ask if we were okay, make sure we were in a good mood, and cheer us up when we weren’t. He acted like a real father figure. He gave the kind of speeches you don’t forget. Whether it came from his own experience or just his honesty, he always told us the truth about the real world. He gave pep talks that made you want to keep going, do something with your life, and believe in yourself. Those moments made me a stronger and more confident student. His advice helped me see things more clearly, not just schoolwork, but life. Because of him, I understand things better, think deeper, and carry myself with more confidence. His support didn’t stop when class ended; it stayed with me. I appreciate everything and all the memories on the team it was really an amazing experience to have shared with you all!
