Ms. Wilcock is an amazing orchestra teacher who makes every rehearsal the best part of the school day. I always look forward to class because I get to pick up my violin and play, which is my favorite part of the day. She makes the classroom a place where everyone feels welcome by starting with fun warm-ups or sharing stories that make us laugh. You can tell she truly cares about us because she always checks in to see how we are doing before we even start tuning. She even supports us outside of the classroom by showing up to other school events, which shows she cares about us as people, not just as musicians. What really makes Ms. Wilcock a great teacher is how she helps me become a more confident student and performer. Whenever I struggle with a difficult part on my violin, she helps me correct my mistakes in a way that makes me feel supported instead of frustrated. Because she breaks down the hard parts and stays patient, I’ve learned that making a mistake is just a step toward getting better. She pushes the whole orchestra to do our best while making sure we are always having fun together. She isn't just teaching us how to play notes; she is teaching us how to be proud of the hard work we put in.
