STUDENT RECOGNITION STORY

Mr. Spahr, An Unstoppable Force Beyond the Limits Have you ever had a teacher who was far beyond what you had thought? Well, that teacher for me is Mr. Spahr. What makes this teacher better than any of the others is his abilities/skills and personality. To begin, he is a serious man yet focused on his job to help us learn and succeed. Unlike other teachers, who focus on the next week or two, Mr. Spahr plans for about 2 to 3 months ahead. He also shows us how many days we need to get through each unit, and warns us how easy or hard it will be. Mr. Spahr also helps us learn and memorize things in a better way. Usually, teachers just tell us to either read the meaning of a word once or to write it down, yet students will either forget or won't even bother to read the notes again. Mr. Spahr solves this problem. He tells us the meaning of a word in a more detailed way. He then asks us quick questions at that time to make sure we understood. He also gives us assignments that deal with those words, helping us soak up the meaning completely. Usually, every class I had was mostly boring, in my opinion, yet Mr. Spahr makes things interesting. He shows us cool videos, interesting experiments, and fascinating, yet hard-to-believe facts. One proof of this is when we were learning about chemical reactions, Mr. Spahr had in the table a little container, the shape of a cylinder, about two to three inches tall, and about 1 inch wide, with a top lid. He went around the room and filled the little bottles with vinegar, then gave us half an Alka-Seltzer tablet so it could fit in. He then told us to place the Alka-Seltzer at the count of three, place the lid on it, and turn it around all in a quick manner, so we did. This experiment resulted in the little container flying upwards and making a small mess. Another proof is when we were learning about how stars were formed and died. He showed us a video (Universe Size Comparison | 3d Animation | Stars Real Scale Comparison) of a comparison of objects in space from smallest to biggest. It showed how big Earth, our planet, was compared to our Sun, yet I got scared afterwards; it showed stars that were tens of thousands of times bigger than ours. Mr. Spahr is a great teacher; he helped me learn science in a more fun and exciting way, supporting and encouraging my classmates and me to do better. Mr. Spahr is like the unbalanced force in an object, using enough force to push our limits to the next level. His influence is like a White Dwarf; it might look small in the mirror, yet the heavy density of your lessons will always stay hot and bright for years. Thank you, Mr. Spahr, for everything you did for me. May God bless you for your hard work in making my classmates and me into our best selves. Thank You! Thankfully and grateful - Erik M. Gomez Ramos
