Ms Monaco was my younger daughter's 4th grade teacher. My older kid had gone through Twitchell starting in 2010. I found all the teachers there to be great and so when my little one started I knew she would thrive. Lexxi has always done well in school but when she entered Ms. Monaco's class in 4th grade she flourished. She not only learned required material but she learned to adapt to change and work with all her classmates. Ms Monaco ran a different type of classroom. The kids sat at low tables and high tables and a picnic bench area. She provided rocking chairs for low tables and wiggly seats for regular desks. She rotated the class monthly to change the dynamics in the class. She would provide hot chocolate mornings during winter to her class. Ms. Monaco achieved all these things including finishing her master's degree that year. As a teacher she accomplished so much for herself while still making sure all her students thrive. I believe them watching her strive for more at the same time inspired the kids to know there are no limits to what can be achieved. As a parent she sent me weekly letters about upcoming week events which was wonderful. Lexxi would come home and rave about something fun they did in class almost everyday. Lexxi was most excited to go to school everyday and as a parent it inspired me to donate as much time as I could to help her accomplish all her classroom activities. Ms. Monaco helped give Lexxi a lot of the confidence she has today. She is now in 6th grade and is involved in National Junior Honor Society, Future City, Debate, orchestra and volleyball. She also volunteers at a preschool in her free time. I can only hope my daughter with succeed at all she strives for. Ms Monaco showed her that is possible. Ms. Monaco has also sent us notices to this day letting us know that she would love to celebrate our child's achievements with us and if she is free she will join us.
