Congratulations to
Life-Changing Teaching Award Nominee
KATHERINE SWARTZENDRUBER
NORTHVIEW MIDDLE SCHOOL
STUDENT RECOGNITION STORY
Ms. Swartzendruber was my 8th grade art teacher who was amazing, not only because of her personality, but her attitude when she came to school she was always in a good mood even when her day was stressful or full of nagging kids. Some things we did in her class where clay sculptures and portraits and painting, it's crazy because before her I hated art, but she made it absolutely amazing, I hated drawing, but she guided me through better techniques to drawing and sketching, because of her I am an amazing artist!! She always was very affectionate towards me and the other students in the class, she checked on us, talked us out of our anger, and put me in a more successful place in my life than I ever have been in, she was the type of teacher I could talk to anything about and know she wouldn't judge me, or criticize me. Ms. Swartzendruber made me a better student by not only encouraging me to do things out of my comfort zone, for example choir. She saw the light in me that I never saw, and had hope in me when I was in a bad state of mind. She had supported me outside of school by having confidence in me that I can be anything I put my mind to and inside of school she always brought the energy wherever she went, she was and still is my favorite teacher I have ever had. Even if she isn't picked for this award I hope she knows she is an amazing person who cares for people, even on the bad days. You have been more than just a teacher to me; you have been a mentor, a guide, and a meaningful figure to me. I'm extremely grateful for your unwavering support and encouragement. You always made me feel valued and understood.
Thank you for being by my side through eighth grade!!
