During my sophomore year at Irving High School, I was enrolled in several AP classes, one of which was AP English Language. My teacher for that class was none other than Mr. Olds. He is well known among all his students, and even by those who have never taken his class. His generosity and dedication to uplifting every student's future make him an amazing educator. I have never entered his classroom without being greeted or having a conversation with him. While it feels normalized in many classes for teachers not to speak to their students as individuals, Mr. Olds is nothing like that. Now that I am a senior, I am again enrolled in his class English 5 and I enjoy every lesson we complete. Mr. Olds tailors every topic to resonate with everyone in the room. As a senior, I have found that these lessons help me consider my future and the resources I need to achieve the career I strive for. Teachers like Mr. Olds have helped me become an open minded person, better prepared to venture into the real world as a young adult.
