STUDENT RECOGNITION STORY

The Gentle Metronome Has a person unlocked a world of patience and self-discovery? That’s what my piano teacher did for me. Meet Ms.Teltchik steady as a metronome, keeping me on track with the notes and songs. Ms. Teltchik is a great teacher because she’s always calm even when students try to interrupt her by playing on the piano, she asks them nicely to stop. When you enter her classroom, you already feel the coziness vibes, just by her greeting it makes you feel happy. Ms.Teltchik impacted me by learning how to be patient because when you are learning a new song you need to learn the notes and practice one hand at first. At the beginning I would get irritated easily but now I learned that everything in music is not as easy as it seems. You just need to practice to become better. Ms. Teltchik is so nice even if she doesn’t know you, she will always say “hi” and listen to what you want to say. For example, I didn’t like my grade for my science test and I was mad, when she saw me she asked me what happened. I told her and she listened attentively then she hugged me, I felt like that hug went on forever and it felt meaningful. Another example is when I couldn’t get both hands together on the song we were learning, so I just gave up. She came up to me and taught me how to do it. First you have to go slow to get the notes right, after you can start to speed up. Somehow Ms. Teltchik always makes my day better by playing piano to get my anger out and just hear how beautiful the music sounds. Every teacher cares about turning in assignments and projects but not Ms.Teltchik even though she doesn't teach any subject she cares about her students. She makes me more confident because on every showcase she’s always there watching us like a proud mom. Even if any of my classmates make a mistake she’s always happy and saying how good we did which makes me feel I'm seen. Whether we are in class or we are outside, she's always smiling and trying to make conversation with you, she will always be nice if you give her the same respect as she does to you. Every time when I hear or play a piano I would think of her as a kind human being, and always being there for me.
