JOEY LAPUZ
FAISS MIDDLE SCHOOL

STUDENT RECOGNITION STORY

This teacher is truly one-in-a-billion. Words simply cannot explain how amazing this teacher really is. He’s helped many students like me during their darkest times and is able to make a whole class laugh, making student’s worries suddenly disappear. I personally had him last year and I can say, he has made my 6th grade year unforgettable. Mr. Lapuz has discussion every day called “Personal Domain” where students listen to each others opinions and problems that might be building up in ones mind. By letting us spill our thoughts, the class gets to understand one another and eventually students feel like a family and feel like they belong. This makes us feel much more excited to go to his class after a long day of classes. Mr. Lapuz listens to our problems during Personal Domain and can truly understand us since he openly explained his very own past and letting us aware how he is feeling at the moment. Mr. Lapuz makes us feel more confident and smarter since he gives us many opportunities to showcase our skills and strengths and constantly encouraging us to grow and teaches us many life lessons during Personal Domain that we can use to better ourselves. Most importantly, Mr. Lapuz maintains a Japanese club, which I am currently in, and takes many kids to Japan for a once-in-a-lifetime experience and which I have experienced also. Mr. Lapuz carefully picks out the best for his students since some in the group are going without parental guidance. Mr. Lapuz willing takes the role as a student’s guardian and treats his whole travel group with care and respect while making the trip going according to plan. During this trip, Mr. Lapuz has treated me and many others who were having certain problems during the trip. With me, I lost a very important pass in order to head to another city in Japan and without him, I wouldn’t be back in Vegas nor where I am right now.
