STUDENT RECOGNITION STORY

The Honorable One In My Heart People come and go in life, but there’s always a few or at least one person who sticks out to you, isn’t there? Reflect on your school days, your childhood, any moment or time in your life that has been there for you, helped you in some way, or was like a friend. Who’s there and what makes them so memorable? For me, it’s a wonderful teacher called Ms. Brown, the kindest, most fun, and easy-going teacher you’ll ever find, that’s who I'll be honoring. A way to describe Ms. Brown is how she is a plush animal, inhow comforting she is. Once, I was having home problems with my family, and the situation at home wasn’t the greatest. It was a bit draining, however, Ms. Brown always took the time to check up on me and make sure I was smiling every day; she always had this calming effect on me, like I could open up and be better near her. Never did I go without a smile for long, for if she didn’t cheer me up, her plush animals, Ollie and Oscar, always would. She gave them personalities and sometimes let us have them as ‘desk buddies’; it was wonderful. Truly, could I ever think of a kinder teacher I’ve had before? Another time Ms. Brown helped me was when I was struggling with a classmate. He wasn’t exactly the nicest person or had the basic manners and human decency to hide his disdain. Since he was a classmate and we had the same teacher, Ms. Brown, she told me not to worry and talked to him, being a beacon of hope, since no matter what I said or did, he’d be disrespectful toward me. After she talked to him, I was spared from his fruitful gazes and snarky remarks to me when I asked for a bit of normalcy rather than hate. Class was never dull due to the number of jokes or ways Ms. Brown would make us laugh. If the plush otters weren’t on spy missions, then a native american was hating being forced into Christianity. Corpus Christy was never called that, always went by the name Crispy Apples in the classroom. These were only the beginning, too. All this to say, Ms. Brown was the greatest teacher I’ve ever had, making school bearable for once, and the one I honor for even getting the chance to meet. Thank you, Ms. Brown. We love you, school mama.
