JAMES MOORE
ROBERSON MIDDLE SCHOOL

STUDENT RECOGNITION STORY

This year I had social studies 8th period, when I first saw that I had Mr. Moore as my teacher I was more than ready to have him. He is the type of teacher that anybody would like to have for social studies. I appreciate him a lot because he puts in the effort no other teacher does. He remains determined to teach us no matter what. The thing that makes Mr Moore awesome is the way he connects with the students. You can have a conversation with him about anything, not just social studies and he will be there to listen and give feedback. Before Mr Moore I was never truly interested in social studies, I just thought of it as a boring topic. However, once I heard the way Mr Moore spoke about history it made me more interested in it. He has his own way of explaining things to us. He tries to connect history with what we deal with today to have better understanding and that’s what makes his class more enjoyable. Mr Moore makes us aware that he cares about us everyday by always bringing in a positive attitude to class. He makes the type of environment where students feel okay to be themselves. What Mr Moore does to make me a more confident student is by giving me the motivation to be better. I asked him once, “Mr Moore, what do you think I’ll get on the STAAR?” and he told me, “Well I know it better be anything greater than a 99.9.” That made me feel motivated to try my absolute best to make a good grade in that test. Overall, Mr Moore is a one of a kind teacher, and I am very, very grateful to have had the opportunity to have him as my 8th grade social studies teacher.
