For many years it was a huge struggle to get my child to go to school. He absolutely hated it and would find any reason to not go. He was labeled a troublemaker and felt no love from his classmates and teachers. It was always a struggle to get my son to do his homework, reading, and writing finished. Then he came to be a 5th grader in Mrs. Georgia Alcala’s classroom at Frias Elementary School. She has given my son a love of learning that he did not know he had. This wonderful teacher understands the 5th grader brain and what interests them. She encourages and makes learning fun through lots of laughing and hands on activities. My son wants to make Mrs. Alcala proud of him. He hates missing school now. She also cares about each student and what they love to do in their extra curriculars. Making these kids feel like they are an important person is her number one goal. Thank you, Mrs. Alcala! Because of your contagious love of learning, my child said “Mom I’m so excited for middle school.”
