Congratulations to
Life-Changing Teaching Award Nominee
FERNANDE SAINT JEAN
NORTH MIAMI SENIOR
STUDENT RECOGNITION STORY
She is not the type of teacher who just talks at the board for 50 minutes; she actually makes the effort to make the material somewhat interesting, which is rare in 10th grade. She knows her stuff but isn't a total robot about it, and she'll actually listen to what the class has to say instead of just shutting down discussions.
What makes her class actually worth going to is that . She actually allows for some "voice and choice," meaning she’ll give options on how to do a project rather than forcing everyone to do it exactly the same way, which is a major reason she's actually pretty cool.
She’s the type who will check in on you if she notice your in a bad mood. and she’s not afraid to take a few minutes to talk to a student 1-on-1 if she sees they are struggling. She shows she cares without being over-the-top about it.
She actually remind you to do your work and meet your responsibilities and not t fail behind and if you you'll meet the consequences of your action. She’s also supported her students outside the classroom, like coming to school games or just asking how a club project is going, which shows she cares about more than just the grades and she's a solid teacher.
