Mrs. Guffin is one of the best teachers that my student has had to date. Her paitence, grace, and care for my student isnt something that can be taught. It is a quality that only some of the best teachers have. This year has been a challenging year outside of school for my student as we are navigating mental health things. As a parent, I was terrified my student would be labeled as a problem child, as our struggles at home have been challenging for our entire family, and I was afraid that would spill into school. Mrs. Guffin has been open to communicating with us, talked through ideas and different ways to approach things both at home and at school. Shes been willing to listen and execute ideas from our therapist and our Occupational Therapist and her love and continued dedication to all her students this entire year has been unmatched. I know that having 24 (give or take) students to teach and care for every day is not for the faint of heart. The attention she has given myself and my student make me feel like she is only there for us. And I know that she extends that to every single student in her care. That isnt an easy task to execute, I know my student has been challenging, but she has loved and encouraged him every day. As a parent, I can't explain the ease my heart has after touching base with her on days that were challenging. She is encouraging, uplifting and has been an absolute lifesaver for my family this year. She has celebrated every win this year, given us different ways to approach our challenges and encouraged my student and our family in so many ways. I am crushed that she can not follow my student for the rest of his Elementary career, but I am so grateful that she has chosen Clearwater to teach at. These kids are so very lucky to have such a talented, caring, phenomenal teacher in their corner. We are so, so, grateful for Mrs. Guffin this year and hope that she wins this amazing honor.
