Congratulations to
Life-Changing Teaching Award Nominee
ELISA KNOLL
NORTHVIEW MIDDLE SCHOOL

STUDENT RECOGNITION STORY

Ms. Knoll is awesome because she connects with the students she interacts with in a way that I don't think many other teachers can or have done for me. With a lot of my teachers, I've sometimes felt that I'm just talking to an adult that has authority over me and nothing else. And while Ms. Knoll is an adult with authority over me, I feel like I'm just talking to another one of my friends, and I'm free to speak my mind. I don't have any classes with Ms. Knoll because I'm not in choir, but Ms. Knoll also directs the school musicals, and I've done around 5 musicals with her. I'm always excited to do the musicals because Ms. Knoll is always excited to see us, and there's almost always something that we can do to help, like making propts or painting stuff. Ms. Knoll lets be design and paint things sometimes, and I always enjoy doing that a lot. I know Ms. Knoll cares about us because she always makes sure that we get enough breaks, food, and water. She cares that we do well, so she pushes us to do better. While she can be a bit extrema at times, she always makes sure that she doesn't push us too hard, and listens when we ask for a water break or just a normal break. Ms. Knoll also complements us often and makes sure we know were we need to improve. Ms. Knoll helps me be more confident by making sure I know how much she appreciates my help, and that I know how good I'm doing. It always feels nice to know that I'm good at what I do for the musicals. Ms. Knoll has incuraged me to try out for the musicals (even though I haven't done much acting), and she helped me work on a song for my audition for Matilda. Overall, I just really love and appreciate Ms. Knoll for all she's done to help me and all the other students she has. I'm really, really, REALLY sad to have to leave her when I go on to high school, and I really want her to know how much good she's doing for all of us kids.
