DAVID WHEELER
NORTH CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL

STUDENT RECOGNITION STORY

Mr. wheeler was one of the best teachers I have ever had. Mr Wheeler was my APUSH teacher this year and become one of my favorite teachers almost immediately. Even when he was struggling with his health he tried his best to be at school and teach us. He always made lessons interesting and made me think, a lot. When I go to his class, I also think about how will his T-shirt match the material for class today and how will he connect what we learn to modern day. Throughout the year, he has always had student support hours to ensure we understood the material or to ensure we did better on tests and quizzes we didn’t do so well on. Mr. Wheeler taught me to put in the work and do a good job. Even when I had a lot of work on my plate, he would encourage me to try hard and push through. I’ve had some really great memories with Mr. wheeler, like the time our class taught him the slang term: “ball knowledge” and he told us how he was going to go home and tell his wife that he has “ball knowledge”. Or the times when he would ask me for gum after lunch and always said “two pieces please”. He taught me to be caring and to help when help was needed. All the feedback he has given me and confidence he has given me in my work and analysis. When he passed a couple days ago, there were still lessons he taught me. Because even though I had the whole year to look at his walls in his classroom, but I only truly read and observed what he put up that day after we learned he had passed. Mr. Wheeler always helped to prepare us for the AP test and prepared for what future teachers or professors would send our way. Thank you for everything Mr. Wheeler, you made much better person and I appreciate that everyday.
