Congratulations to
Life-Changing Teaching Award Nominee
DANIELLE HALL
DAVID M COX ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

STUDENT RECOGNITION STORY

I would like to nominate Ms. Hall, my son’s Pre-k teacher. My son, Grayson, is nonverbal and has autism. At the beginning of the school year, Grayson was unable to sit for centers or learning time for any length of time, walk in a line, or function in a classroom setting. With Ms. Halls patience, guidance and understanding, he’s now able to walk in line, sit and participate in centers, and has become comfortable and able to function better in the classroom. But that’s the only reason I’m nominating her. I stated earlier that Grayson is nonverbal. During the time in Ms. Halls class, he’s now started saying animal names and sounds!! He’s trying to say other words as well! She’s also gotten him an AAC device and made communication boards for him as well. She has literally given him a voice! Do you realize the impact that’s made on his life and our families life? We will be forever grateful to her! Quite literally an answer to our prayers. We didn’t know if he’d ever speak. The impact she has made on not only his life, but our families life, we will carry with us forever. When we ask Grayson every morning if he wants to go to school, his immediate reaction is an excited “yesssss”. She did that! She’s instilled that school is an exciting, safe place that he wants to go! She laid that foundation. Ms. Hall is not only an amazing teacher, but an incredible person. She’s has changed my son’s life and I truly believe that she deserves to be honored for the difference that she makes every single day.
