Congratulations to
Life-Changing Teaching Award Nominee
DALE ROBINSON
JOHN F KENNEDY MIDDLE
STUDENT RECOGNITION STORY
At first, school was just a building to my G-child. A place with bells, books, days of pretending to be sick don't want to go to school and busy hallways.. Recently, everything changed the year my child walked into J. F.K Middle School met Mrs. Martial, along with some great teachers and Mr. Harvey.
Mrs. Martial was not just a teacher; she is a math teacher of confidence. My G-child had always been doubting of himself the kind who knew the answers but hesitated to raise a hand. On the first day, Mrs. Martial noticed. She didn’t push or pressure. Instead, she gently invited participation, offering encouragement in small, meaningful ways.
Mr. Robinson never lose sight that Ah'mani can do anything he puts his mind to do..
A nod., A smile. A soft, “Would you like to try?" have made a difference and gone a far way.
Over time, those small gestures became stepping stones.
One afternoon, when my child came home excited about doing his math at success in class, I realized something profound had shifted. It wasn’t just about academics. It was about courage. Mrs. Martial had created a classroom where mistakes were not failures but lessons, where questions were welcomed, and where every child felt seen.
Also, what made the difference wasn’t just the teachers, it's also the mentor, Mr. Harvey, and the culture of the school itself.
At John Fitzgerald Kennedy Middle School, learning goes beyond textbooks. The mentors and teachers collaborate, constantly sharing ideas to better support each student. They celebrate strengths and gently guide weaknesses. Through project-based learning, group discussions, and creative activities, they nurture not only intellect but empathy, leadership, and resilience.
The school’s mentoring program with Mr. Harvey pairs students with teachers who check in regularly, not only about grades, however, about feelings, activities, friendships, how to resolve disagreements respectfully and personal growth.
In a world that often measures success by marks alone, this school measures growth by confidence, kindness, respect, discipline and dignity.
Teachers here don’t just teach subjects. They teach perseverance. They teach responsibility. They teach children to believe in themselves.
Today, when I see my G-child walked up on stage as a recipient of the Honor Roll Award, approaching challenges with determination, I see the invisible fingerprints of dedicated educators. I see the impact of a school community that understands education is not about filling minds, but about shaping character.
Ah'mani was so elated!
Mrs. Martial, Mr. Harvey, Mr. Robinson Mrs. Kenji may never fully know the depth of their influence.
In our home, their names are spoken with gratitude. The dedication they demonstrate each day along with the Mr. Clarke who is invested with these children these are the people who make the school what it is, today. My G-child is not just learning lessons from books, Ah'mani is learning lessons for life.
Thank you
