My son Juan Byas was a student of Mrs. Vargas from 6-8th grade. Now he is a 10th grader and we truly have never met a teacher since that has made as big of an impact on his life. To this day there are skills, knowledge, and life lessons that she embedded in Juan that he carries with him today. She helped mold him into a responsible student and inspired him to always strive for the best. Mrs. Vargas goes over and beyond for her students not only in the classroom but out as well. She takes the time to get to know every student and parent on a personal level. She helped Juan come out of his shell and be confident in who he is. Everyone in her Coast program becomes family. She’s constantly looking for new projects, field trips, experiences, and resources to help teach and inspire her students. She takes her classroom outside of the books and into real life experiences. Through a love for marine life and conservation efforts she has taught our students how to care for the world they live in, how not to be afraid to go outside of their comfort zones, to try new things. and how to be curious! To this day we see the impact she has made on all her students and she will forever be a part of our kids lives.
