Congratulations to
Life-Changing Teaching Award Nominee
CHRISTINE OLSAVSKY
WUNSCHE HIGH SCHOOL
STUDENT RECOGNITION STORY
Mrs.Olsavsky was one of those remarkable people who appreciate every kid for who they are. The type of teachers who will welcome you in their class with a bright smile on their faces. No matter how much stress the kids may put on her, she treats them the same way as she treats the good kids. She's amazing at being a good teacher and as a human. Every day before going to her class, I find myself speed walking to get there quicker to be able to talk to her. She's amazing as a listener. She cares about every single one of her students. She does this by making sure everyone is okay, checking up on the kids. Every day, she walks around talking to every kid about what they're doing and what they're up to. Which I truly appreciate because sometimes we tend to want someone to check up on us, and she happily listens to us. When the school year had just started, I was quieter in that class because I didn't know anyone, and no one really knew each other. I noticed throughout the year that the class kept getting louder and louder, giving everyone the confidence to be able to express themselves and show their true personality. Her class is the type of environment where you can feel and be free. Her kind soul has supported me inside and outside of the classroom. When I missed a couple of days because of a funeral I had to attend, by the time I came back, she explained to me about everything she had taught the class carefully and with patience, since sometimes it takes me a while to understand. She was patient as I processed the information. She never got mad and was there for me. It felt like I could always look up to her, and I felt cared for. She continues to do the same; she goes beyond simply teaching, she builds up everyone's confidence and cares about their growth academically and personally.
