Mrs. Stalcup has been my daughter’s orchestra teacher since 6th grade, and she works some kind of magic with these kids. I am astounded at every concert by how incredible they sound—especially the fall concert, when many of the Beginning Orchestra students have only been holding their instruments for a few short months. Now, as an 8th grader, my daughter is preparing to play a solo at ISSMA—something I never would have imagined she would want to do. Mrs. Stalcup consistently goes above and beyond for her students. She keeps learning fun and engaging (we will truly miss the sock giveaways and the NERD clusters), while also challenging and encouraging students to do hard things. Somehow, she makes it all look easy and sound amazing. As we move on to North Central, Mrs. Stalcup will be dearly missed by Charlotte and by our entire family. She is authentic, quirky, and fun, and at the same time an exceptional music educator. She has made a lasting impact on our family, and we feel incredibly lucky to have benefited from her talent and expertise.
