Mrs. Lucero is an awesome teacher for many reasons. First of all, Claire talks about her everyday on the way home from school. She always starts with "I love Ms. Lucero" and then proceeds to tell me a story about the day and why that particular day she loves Ms. Lucero. That right there says it all. Mrs. Lucero makes learning fun and engaging while also challenging the students. She gives the right amount of encouragement and support when Claire is feeling unsure of her abilities or going into one of her perfectionism spirals. I also really appreciate that Mrs. Lucero hold Claire accountable for her behavior and work at school. She lets Claire know what is expected of her and because Claire trusts her and believes she cares about her she is motivated to take responsibility and change when she needs to. Fifth grade can be a difficult year as kids are just experiencing many new developmental changes and preparing for middle school which can be scary. I am very grateful that Claire feels safe, valued, and cared about while she makes these transitions. I am also grateful for all the great learning she is experiencing and her growth in her writing and math skills. Thanks Mrs. Lucero for being the best of the best!
