Congratulations to
Life-Changing Teaching Award Nominee
ANNMARIE JAMAR
ROBERSON MIDDLE SCHOOL
STUDENT RECOGNITION STORY
It is such a pleasure to nominate Mrs. Annmarie Jamar for this award. As Roberson's middle school librarian, from our daughter's perspective, she has transformed the school library into the true heartbeat of her school, a place where every student feels seen, supported, and inspired. What sets Mrs. Jamar apart is her incredible dedication to these students far beyond the library shelves. She is a constant, encouraging presence in their extracurricular lives. Whether she is organizing and encouraging student participation in the spelling bee, or overseeing the much touted GT Expo she shows our students that she cares about who they are as whole people, not just as learners. In the middle school years, students are often searching for a sense of belonging. Mrs. Jamar provides that. She creates a safe haven for students during lunch if they would rather read a book or play a board game. Apart from her work duties of school librarian to over 800 students she somehow manages to encourage so many students to expand on their book knowledge and turn out such creative and passionate GT projects. A personal story with our child was when Sophia was in the 6th grade and decided on the GT topic of filming a clay animation project, we as parents were so grateful to Mrs. Jamar as she provided the proper guidance, enthusiasm and encouragement needed for our daughter to have such an awesome learning experience. To continue, in the 7th grade when we saw that Sophia's crochet periodic table GT project would not be adequately complete for the expo and reached out last minute to Mrs. Jamar, she again provided that guidance and reassurance which ultimately again turned that into a very positive learning experience for not only our daughter but us as parents. So apart from the countless hours she likely dedicates to these GT projects and spelling bee events, she also coordinates something my daughter so very much has looked forward to these past two years which is the Girls Stem trip. We so very much appreciate the exposure to those academic fields but we also appreciate the fact that these little trips are going to be core memories for our daughter and again providing that sense of belonging. Lastly, Mrs. Jamar's energy is infectious, and her ability to balance academic support with genuine mentorship is rare. She doesn’t just manage a library; she builds a community. Her involvement in extracurriculars has bridged the gap between faculty, students, and parents by fostering a culture of mutual respect and school spirit. I think we all have those special teachers in our lives that we look back on and know they made such in impact, I think Mrs. Jamar will be that for Sophia. For her tireless work, her "all-in" attitude, and her heart for student success, I cannot think of anyone more deserving of this recognition than Mrs. Annmarie Jamar.
