Congratulations to
Life-Changing Teaching Award Nominee
ANDREW STEWART
SPRING EARLY COLLEGE ACADEMY

STUDENT RECOGNITION STORY

One thing that makes Mr. Stewart awesome is that he is very chill and easy to talk to. I feel like I can really talk to him, and that is not something I can say about every teacher. His class doesn’t feel stressful or tense. Instead, it feels like a calm and safe place where I can focus and be myself. He also makes class exciting in a way that works for me. He lets us do our work and constantly doesn’t bother us. I actually like working by myself, but some teachers are always in your ear, telling you what to do every second. Mr. Stewart isn’t like that. He gives us space and trusts us to get our work done, and that makes me enjoy his class more. He shows that he cares about me by pushing me to do my work, especially because by the end of the semester, I usually struggle with my grades. He reminds me to stay on top of my assignments so that I don’t end up stressed about my grade in his class. It means a lot that he wants me to do well, but also doesn’t want me to feel overwhelmed. Mr. Stewart also makes me a more confident student. If I get an answer wrong, he doesn’t call me out or embarrass me in front of the whole class. Instead, he leads me to the right answer and helps me figure it out. That way, I don’t feel or look stupid in front of everyone. Because of that, I’m less afraid to try and participate. He has supported me by giving me motivation when I need it. Even small things he says can help me keep going when I feel tired or feel like giving up. Knowing that he believes I can do the work makes me believe in myself more, too. Mr. Stewart is chill, understanding, and respectful. I’m really grateful to have him as my teacher, and that is why I think he deserves to be honored.
