Congratulations to
Life-Changing Teaching Award Nominee
ADRIANA MARTINEZ
ELDORADO HIGH SCHOOL

STUDENT RECOGNITION STORY

I've only been at Eldorado for 3 years. In these 3 years, Ms. Martinez has managed to do more for me in just a couple of months than any teacher has done for me in all of these years. Ms. Martinez manages to form a bond with practically every student. The conversations we have in class from the jokes to the serious ones, are all things that make me excited to go to class. A few months ago I broke up with my boyfriend. Of course people were supportive and showed that they cared about how I was doing, but Ms. Martinez went out of her way to get me gifts to cheer me up and is always there for support when I need it. Funnily enough, she always has some sort of situation that relates to mine and makes me feel less alone even when it feels like everything around me is crashing. These things are what make me a more confident student. She helps me in learning to speak out about things and share my interest. We first began bonding over my love for documentaries and her love for politics. Being able to come to class and ask her about certain things and hear how interested she was in my own interest makes me feel more comfortable in sharing those interest with others. Inside the classroom there's a plethora of support from her and I'm grateful to not have that change once I leave the classroom either. Ms. Martinez has supported my fundraisers, shared ideas about outside projects I could do, and is thoughtful in her actions no matter where she is. People around school love her and I'm so blessed to have her as a teacher!
