Congratulations to
Life-Changing Teaching Award Nominee
ADIANE LEON
LAKE WORTH HIGH SCHOOL

STUDENT RECOGNITION STORY

First of all, as we all may know, teachers do their best to teach us students the necessary topics to be sucessful in life. Ms.Leon was my AICE Spanish Language teacher last school year. And only 2 words describes who she is, AMAZING TEACHER. Ms.Leon is an awesome teacher and let me tell you why. Ms.Leon would hype us up in the early morning. I had her during Period 1 last school year. Yes I would be very sleepy, but all the energy that Ms.Leon has and the way she would make us be active tought me really well that, If you feel tired and think that you will never succeed in life, WAKE UP AND RISE! You are worth a lot in life and laziness will not help you achieve. Some things that would make me excited to go to Ms.Leon class are the activities. I am a huge Project or Presentation fan. I love making projects, it is so fun for me. She told us in order to pass the CAMBRIDGE SPEAKING EXAM, we would have to do a presentation about our FAVORITE topic we have learned. I felt so excited to do it. I talked about my favorite topic and I had to be creative also. I am a creative person, so I like to be neat. Next, Ms.Leon also cares about us students. She would teach us many ways to relax ourselves if we are going through difficult times. She would talk about how we can calm ourselves if we are not doing well in our mental health and it really helped me a lot. I never had a teacher who would talk about how to relax ourselves mentally, support us in our goals, etc. Ms.Leon made a huge impact not only in school but also in my life. I as a student felt like I would never meet my requirements or not be able to graduate high school, but look at me now, I have met all my requirements as a Junior Student. I never had hope on myself, I never trusted myself, but as soon as Ms.Leon became my Spanish teacher, you don't know how much she changed my life. As I have said before, Ms.Leon made a huge impact on my life, but she also made me confident about myself. At the beginning of the school year, Ms.Leon had a goal to meet, which was us students to pass the CAMBRIDGE exam. I felt that I was not going to pass it. But throughout the school year, Ms.Leon tought us a lot of ways to PASS the exam, she would give us quizzes, mock exams, etc. And to be honest, I don't like exams, but as soon as I received the exams on my hands I had a goal to meet, pass the CAMBRIDGE exam. My grades would rise a lot, I started with a C - , then went up to a B, then to an A!! Ms.Leon also made us do a presentation to pass the Interview exam which was last year April. She corrected lots of mistakes and told us to re-write what words we wrote incorrently, Yes, my card was full of incorrections, but I never gave up to fix my mistakes. Enden, the big day came, the CAMBRIDGE exams came. First the interview then the rest. I was really nervous and scared, I went to Ms.Leon room and we started the interview. It went by like 16 minutes, it finished. I was so scared for my results for that exam. Enden the rest of the exams came, but I had confidence and trusted myself. I went ready to pass the exam. On August of 2025, I received an email of the Cambridge results, I got a B!! I cannot the describe the joy I felt when I saw my results. And I emailed Ms.Leon of how appreciated I was about it! Thank you Ms.Leon! Last but not least, the way Ms.Leon would support us students inside and outside of the classroom was heart warming. She told us when ever we would get a bad result in any class or any exam, we shouldn't think ourselves as failures, we should take it as a sign to keep going. A bad result does not mean you're failing. A bad result means you are trying your best to pass. All over her room she has quotes that really mean a lot. I never forget about Ms.Leon's words and that is why I choose to be her STUDENT AIDE this year. I do not do it to waste time, I do it to let Ms.Leon know the huge impact she made on my life. Thank you Ms.Leon you so much to me!
